Dental care for Veterans—without the long wait

City Point Dental is a VA Community Care provider

Can’t get a dental appointment? We’ll step in.

When the VA cannot provide eligible veterans with timely or conveniently located dental care, the VA Community Care Network (VACCN) may allow them to receive authorized treatment from a participating provider in their community. City Point Dental is a VA Community Care provider. Eligible veterans will be referred to our Hopewell office for VA-authorized dental care.

Note that veterans cannot self-refer or contact City Point Dental directly to schedule treatment using VA Community Care benefits. Your first step is to contact your VA representative, who will determine your eligibility, initiate the referral process, and authorize treatment when appropriate.

Authorized dental care closer to home

VA Community Care helps eligible veterans receive treatment outside a VA facility when certain access requirements cannot be met, for instance, when appointment wait times are too long or the nearest VA facility is too far away.

Eligibility for VA dental care is limited and depends on factors such as disability status, service history, and individual VA benefits. Eligible patients are often veterans with a 100% service-connected disability, but the VA must review each veteran’s circumstances and determine whether they qualify.

Timely appointments

We work directly with the VA to coordinate appointments for referred veterans and provide authorized care as efficiently as possible.

FAQs

  • What does VA Community Care credentialing mean?

Credentialing is the process of verifying that City Point Dental meets the VA Community Care Network’s requirements. It includes background checks and other approvals that must be completed before the practice can accept VACCN referrals and provide VA-covered treatment. City Point Dental is fully credentialed, and the VA may refer eligible veterans to our practice for authorized dental services. Our team will provide the approved care and coordinate the required documentation with the VA.

Network participation does not mean every veteran or dental service is automatically covered. Veterans must qualify for VA dental care, and all treatment must be approved by the VA before it can be provided through VACCN.

    LEARN ABOUT VA DENTAL BENEFITS

  • How does VA Community Care work at City Point Dental?

Because every referral requires VA review and approval, scheduling through VACCN typically takes longer than scheduling a standard dental appointment.

    1. Contact your VA representative. Begin by asking the VA whether you qualify for dental benefits and care through the VA Community Care Network.
    2. Complete the eligibility review. The VA will determine whether you qualify for dental care and Community Care based on factors such as appointment wait times or the distance to a VA facility.
    3. Receive VA approval. If Community Care is appropriate, the VA will authorize your treatment and refer you through VACCN. Patients cannot self-refer to City Point Dental.
    4. Coordinate your appointment. A VA representative may contact City Point Dental to schedule your visit, or the VA may send us your information so we can coordinate directly with you.
    5. Confirm the authorized treatment. Your VA referral will identify the services approved for coverage. Additional procedures or follow-up care may require separate authorization.
    6. Receive your approved care. Once your referral and authorization are confirmed, our team will provide the approved services and coordinate the necessary documentation with the VA.

Patients cannot call City Point Dental and schedule directly using VA Community Care benefits. The VA must initiate the referral before our office can coordinate an authorized appointment.

  • Is VA Community Care a type of insurance?

VA Community Care is not dental insurance, and City Point Dental cannot determine eligibility, authorize treatment, or initiate a referral. Veterans must first contact their VA representative. If approved, the VA will refer the patient through VACCN and coordinate the next steps with the practice.

All treatment must be approved by the VA before it can be provided through Community Care. Receiving unrelated treatment at City Point Dental does not establish VACCN eligibility or guarantee VA coverage.
